Trumpeting the importance of literacy in Kent schools

Nominations are accepted for the Kent Literacy Awards 2017 from parents, pupils, teaching, support staff and management at primary and secondary schools in Kent, Medway and Bexley for initiatives that showcase the development of reading, writing, speaking and listening skills.

Reading, writing, speaking and listening skills are developed through a wide variety of cross-curricular topics, including arts and drama.

The awards call for nominations to showcase initiatives that make a real difference to the success of schools. The aim is to celebrate what works well in the classroom and help spread that best practice across the county.

Nominations open on March 1 and culminate with an awards celebration at Hempstead House Hotel, Sittingbourne at the end of June. There will be a fundraising raffle, with proceeds supporting reading projects in the region.

A summary of all of the winning submissions will be published and circulated to every school in Kent, Medway and Bexley.

The closing date for nominations is midday 1 May 2017 and you can find out more on the KM Charity Team website.
