Service Pupil Premium 2017

The Directorate Children and Young People (DCYP) would like to request your assistance in advertising the 2017 Service Pupil Premium to ensure as maximum coverage as possible. The Department for Education is offering £300 to schools where Service children are enrolled to enable the schools to offer them additional support. The funds are paid directly to the schools and it is up to the Head Teachers and school Governors how they will be used. The support is mainly pastoral and is offered during challenging times including when the service parent is away, injured on active service to bereavement.

The funds are available only if the service child is attending a state school, academy or free school in England and they must be registered before 19 January. Please encourage parents to let the school know if their children come from Service families. This information will not be shared with other organisations and it will be protected on the National Pupil Database. Use the DCYP – Service Pupil Premium Poster to raise awareness.
