After six months of activity with Year 10 KaMCOP students, the Inspiring Minds Programme came to a grand finale at the Inspiring Minds - The Showcase event on 18 June 2018.
Since January 2018, 69 students have started the course, working with academics to learn all about STEM subjects. Throughout the programme, they worked on research projects as varied as: “What’s The Universe Really Made Of?”, “Who am I Online?”, and “The Role of AI and Robots”.
Students were also able to work towards the prestigious CREST award, the British Science Association’s accreditation scheme for STEM project work, which provides science enrichment activities to inspire and engage students.
During the Showcase, students presented their findings in a range of innovative ways, from documentaries to academic posters, and even a coded “chat bot”.
The programme has been a huge success, and many students now wish to further their work by studying for a silver CREST award next year, so watch this space!
